Andrea & Cam Get Married!

August 25, 2010

Another Wedding! This was probably the biggest wedding I’ve done to date. There were flowers everywhere! EVERYWHERE! We had arrangements, bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnières, pew marks—flowers, flowers, flowers!

I loved this wedding because it was so colorful and fresh. Andrea had this vision of summer and I think we nailed it. I’m really proud of how it turned out.

I have a few people to thank. Because this wedding was so large I had get some help. First I want to thank my friend Nicole, who works with me at Bunches. She helped put the arrangements together which really helped with time and stress management. I don’t know if I could have done it without her. Secondly, I want to thank my friend Kayla, who took the beautiful photos that you are looking at. She also helped me set things up and take things down. I also need to thank my Dad for letting me use his SUV. Not only did he let me use his vehicle, but he didn’t yell at me when I told him multiple arrangements had fallen over and spilled water everywhere. My parents have been so amazing and patient with the whole “taking over there house to do a wedding” thing.

Andrea and Cam you had a beautiful wedding. Thanks for letting me be part of it.

I know, I know—I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been waiting on pictures of the past four weddings I’ve done. I should have all the pictures back soon, so there will be lots of new stuff posted!

Jen and Craig were married in early June. I unfortunately wasn’t able to attend the wedding, but as you can see from the pictures it was a beautiful day. Jen gave me a paint chip that she was hoping I could match the flowers to. To be honest with you, I really didn’t think it would be possible. I tried to be like: “Sure, no problem,” but in my head I thought: “Oh no!” Luckily, Jen was one of the easiest going brides I’ve worked with and was really okay with whatever I came up with. I ended up getting flowers that were a perfect match to the paint chip!

Thanks Jen and Craig for letting me be a part of your day! Jen, you were a stunning bride and I’m so happy for you two! Many blessings in your upcoming adventure.

In other news—I got a new job! I’ll be leaving the architectural firm to work for a company called Artistic Stairs. They do custom “stuff” for homes. It’s going to be a very different job. I will get to work more with clients (which is the part of my job I love the most and I think I’m best at). I’m very thankful for all I’ve learned and the people I’ve worked with at the firm, but I think its time to spread my wings.

Dont forget to leave a comment! Thats my favorite part.

Until next time …

I decided when I created this blog that I didn’t want it to be all business and nothing personal.  A blog is supposed to be personal. I want people who stop by to get to know me and maybe even see my personality in my creations. Working with flowers allows you into people’s lives and part of some of the most important events in their lives. Whether it’s a first date or an engagement, wedding, new baby or funeral I get to share the emotions and celebrate with each client. When it comes to weddings I put my heart and soul into every design. When you sign up for me to do your wedding you don’t just get flowers you get a friend.  I love getting to know my brides and I often find myself sharing who I am and how my day was with them. I don’t do flowers because of the money I do it because I love being creative and being part of people lives. One of my favourite things about doing weddings is when I get to drop off the flowers. Not many people are invited into the home while the bride is getting ready. It’s usually just the bride and her girls, maybe a mom and possibly a photographer. It’s so fun to bring in the flowers, see her face when she sees them and sit down and chat for a bit. It’s such a cool moment!

So, one of the brides I have loved getting  to know is Robin! In the fall a friend of mine referred Robin to me. I met Robin and her fiancé at Second Cup and instantly fell in love with them! There were so easy going. They just wanted their flowers to be beautiful.  It was awesome how Robin and my ideas were so similar. It instantly came together. It’s so fun working with Brides like Robin. They just make it easy and I think I do my best work when I can just be creative!

So what got me in this uber personal mood you ask? Well earlier today I was reading one of my favourite blogs. It’s a blog from a photographer in California who’s photos are a dream. On her blog today she had “Things I Love…”  She posts blogs like this every once in a while and I enjoy reading it and thinking of things I love but that’s usually it. Today there was something on it that just hit me. It made me think that the burdens or circumstances in my life could actually be a blessing. I actually had a conversation about it this weekend with my friend Derek. It was a fear and insecurity of mine on Saturday when I was telling him about it, but today I’m see it and a different light. It’s really cool how things work.

If you know me personally you know that last week I celebrated my 25th birthday. I guess I’m just in the mood of examining my live and looking to the future. So here is a few things I love.

I love that every day is a new start. Every morning you can get up and be the person you want to be. You can treat people, the world and yourself better. You can dream new dreams. You can put the past behind you, live in the present and plan for the future. It’s amazing to think that every morning is a fresh start!

I love the beautiful people in my live. I love the family that I’ve been given. I can’t believe the way and the amount they love me even though sometimes I can be the biggest pain in the ass. I can’t believe the wonderful gift we are getting in the fall with my new Nephew Ethan! I can’t wait to meet him.  I love my friends. They support me and care for me in ways I only dream of.

I love flowers. Ya duh! But really how amazing are flowers. I could never even dream them up. I love looking closely at them and seeing  all the details. Incredible.

So there it is. I’m also starting a list of things I want to do in my 25th year so if you have any suggestions leave me a comment and maybe you’ll win a PRIZE!

Come by again soon.

Until next time

Kirsten and David were married in Jamaica over spring break and then had a beautiful wedding reception here in Edmonton. We were going for a more tropical theme for their wedding. Lots of orchids and palm leaves! I put together and designer the head table. I can’t take credit for all the flowers. I did help design the centerpieces but Bunches also designed and put them together.

Kirsten, I had so much fun doing your flowers not to mention how lucky I am to have people like you in my life!

The photos of Kirsten’s wedding were done by Ashley Champagne. She is amazingly talented. She’s even photographed Lady Gaga! Check out her blog http://ashleychampagne.blogspot.com/
